As the National Geographic Magazine (January, 2016) issue, The Power of Parks, states, When we get closer to nature–be it untouched wilderness or a backyard tree–we do our over-stressed brains a favour. Nature nurtures us.
Confederation Homestead is our recommended way for you and your spouse/partner/family/friends to get away from the stresses of city life and rest, or explore our forest, or whatever makes you de-stress.
Our 36-acre farm is surrounded by forest, with its own pond, entirely private and quiet. It comes with a lovely 1866 log-pioneer home which is a wonderful cross between visiting our past history, decorated with period antiques, and the loving and tasteful updates of modern convenience. Situated in the scenic locale of Haliburton County in Ontario, it is a 2-3 hour drive from Toronto or 4 1/2 hours from Ottawa. Available for rentals year round. A Wonderful place to spend your Honeymoon (we did in 2009, and we loved it so much we bought the place).
Great for bike riding. It is only 7 km from town on a hard-top road which isn’t busy. Lots of hills, so be prepared…It is called “Minden Hills” for a reason.
We are pet friendly. Well-behaved animals are welcome including cats and dogs.
We invite you to explore this site, view the many amenities made available to you, all for a reasonable rate, be it a weekend or a week or two. We have a loyal group of guests who come back, again and again. We welcome you to join that group.
